The leaves have turned, the air has cooled, and our spirits are rising, both those that haunt and those that lift us up.  Spirits young and old will want to mark their calendars for all that Barre has planned for the week of Halloween.  Starting with Saturday, October 25th, The Barre Partnership will host its annual Halloween Costume parade followed by Trunk or Treat at Currier Park.  Little ghosts and ghouls can head over to Enterprise Alley for parade line-up starting at 2:30pm with plans to march their way over to Currier Park for some hauntingly good shenanigans.  There will be games, horse drawn carriage rides, trunk or treats, custom crafted Halloween themed photo cutouts and more!  If you’d like to head downtown to see the parade make sure to get there and have your seat spots in time for a 3pm start.

If you can’t get enough treats and tricks then make sure you head downtown on Friday, October 31st, for the annual Downtown Trick or Treat.  Barre businesses on Main Street will be ready to welcome trick or treaters between 4-5pm.  This is always a very loved, well-attended, and safe event for our community’s families.  Crosswalks will be closed, but officers will be at either end of Main Street to assist everyone crossing safely to the other side.  If you happen to see the wooden Halloween photo cutouts sporadically around downtown, please stop for a photo op and then be sure to tag @thebarrepartnership when shared on social media.

Finally, lace up your sneakers and come downtown to cheer on the spirits of our runners who will be participating in the 11th Annual Granite City 5K Run/Walk for Veterans on Saturday, November 1st, set to start at 9am. This is a run/walk event to celebrate the service people in our Armed Forces and raise awareness of the many challenges veterans endure.  This event is produced in collaboration with the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron #10, and Barre Elks Lodge #1535. For more information and to register online go to https://runsignup.com/Race/VT/Barre/GraniteCity5k .
